Three years ago, I picked up a book that changed my life. That book was titled In The Life. It was the first book of its kind, detailing the lives of Gay Black men it served as a beacon in a dark time.

After doing more research I found there was a second book Joseph Beam started called Brother to Brother. I knew after reading the second book that my life would never be the same. I decided in the summer of 2021 I wanted to create a project centered around the editor Joseph Beam, but I didn't know quite what it would look like. I wanted to dedicate something to him and that came in the form of a documentary.
